Join us and experience the legendary Lemmenjoki National Park’s ancient forests and open fells during the peak of autumn colors. We will visit, among other places, the Ravadasköngäs waterfall and learn about the decades-long history of gold digging in the area. The hike is suitable for both new and experienced hikers who have prior experience with carrying heavy backpacks and camping overnight in tents. We will hike approximately 70 km over 6 days. Daily stages range from 6 to 16 km, and we will sleep in tents. The trail mostly follows well-marked paths, but in some places the terrain is rocky and elevation changes make the hike somewhat challenging. Good basic physical fitness is required to manage the hike and carry your own gear.
We will carpool to Lemmenjoki National Park and share transportation costs. On the return journey, we will spend one night in Kiilopää at our own expense. Each participant pays for their own food, and there are no additional costs. The guide will assist before, during, and after the hike with anything needed.
A preparatory meeting and information session will be held on Monday, August 3rd at 18:30 at Kulturhuset AX, in the gathering room. The hiking trip takes place from Sunday to Saturday, September 13–19.
Please note that participants are not insured by the adult education center. We recommend that participants take out their own insurance, as well as travel insurance (which covers possible illness).
If cancellation occurs after August 28th, half of the course fee will be charged.
If cancellation occurs later than 7 days before departure, the full course fee will be charged.
