Join us for a four-day autumn hike in Salla National Park in northeastern Finland. Salla is Finland's newest national park, and its wilderness area extends all the way to the Russian border. The hike starts from Sallatunturi and mostly follows easy low mountain terrain. The gently rolling hills and ancient primeval forests offer excellent hiking terrain, stretching over ridges and ravines, with large open bogs and many small lakes in between. We will also hike parts of the UKK trail that runs through Salla National Park. If we are very lucky, we might even see the northern lights dancing in the starry sky.
The hike is suitable for hikers with normal basic fitness and previous experience of hiking with a heavy packing and camping overnight. The daily stages are approximately 15-20 km, and we will camp in tents. The guide will assist before, during, and after the hike with whatever is needed. We will carpool to Lapland and share transportation costs; each person pays for their own food, and there are no additional costs.
A preparatory meeting and information session will be held on Monday, August 25th at 6:30 PM in the meeting room of the AX Cultural House. The hiking trip runs from Wednesday to Sunday, September 17-21, with hiking days from Thursday to Sunday.
Please note that participants are not insured by Pedersöre MI. We recommend that participants take their own insurance, including travel insurance (in case of illness).
If canceled after September 3rd, half of the course fee will be charged.
If canceled later than 7 days before departure, the entire course fee will be charged.
