CONTINUATION COURSE IN MEDIEVAL LONGSWORD

Price

Training with medieval long swords is part of a martial art commonly known as HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts). HEMA has become increasingly popular in Finland and Europe in general and can be practiced as a form of exercise or as a martial art or if you simply have an interest in the Middle Ages and swordsmanship. Despite its bloody past, HEMA is safer than for example football.

The course is meant as a continuation course for those who have already participated in a beginner's course and have already gotten their own gear. Some loaner-gear is available if necessary. In the course we go through techniques from German and Italian long-sword traditions, based on manuscripts by Liechtenauer, Meyer, Fiore and Vadi from the 15th to the 17th century.

The goal of the course is to learn how to get the techniques working in a practical sparring situation with longsword.

During the course we freely mix Swedish, Finnish and English as needed. The teacher speaks all the languages fluently.
